Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Gets a New Look from Palm Beach State College Marketing Students!

In the spring of 2010 Community Compact matched Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies with a marketing class from Palm Beach State College. Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies had a need to develop a marketing strategy for their new text4babies program. Thus service-learning students from a PBSC marketing class in conjunction with the nonprofit produced a marketing plan for this program. This marketing plan includes stages of development, marketing materials, a strategy for the dissemination of those materials, and key analysis of the target population in the Community.

This project has been highly successful; “The students did an excellent job of understanding the task and implementing marketing concepts for the campaign.” stated Michelle Bowerdwize, Development and Marketing Director at Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies. She went on to say that the program was a huge success because the Service Learning model designed and implemented by Community Compact is efficient and benefits nonprofit organizations, students and the community being served, it’s truly a Win, Win, Win situation!

The Service Learning students were equally impressed with the program. Jonathan Campton stated “Having the opportunity to work on a real project that is being deployed in our community gave me real world of work experience and taught me a lot about working with clients. I also experienced a genuine sense of pride and accomplishment.
