Community Compact, Inc. was founded in 2008 as a nonprofit organization by a small group of individuals already active in various nonprofit activities in South Florida. Observing the unfilled needs of nonprofit organizations, especially in the area of resource development and institutional capacity, the group explored how these needs could be more fully met. Engaging college and university students to work for nonprofit organizations, typically for academic credit, became a recurring theme in the search for answers. The idea was especially attractive because this solution could be beneficial not only to nonprofits, but also to students.
The mission of Community Compact, Inc. is to offer nonprofit organizations, typically without charge, institutional capacity building options by facilitating service learning partnerships with colleges and universities.
Community Compact, Inc. implements its mission primarily by providing services to nonprofit organizations which desire to increase their organizational capacity by entering into service learning partnerships with institutions of higher education. These services include the following:
As Community Compact, Inc. seeks to facilitate partnerships, we also work with students, faculty and administrators to increase their understanding of the nonprofit environment. Upon request, we offer tools and training, such as cultural competency, so that a service learning experience is optimally beneficial for all concerned.
